About

Dementia Mates will be a team of accredited volunteers. Their role is twofold, they will provide:

  • Support, information, and resources to carers and those living with Dementia

  • Linkages and connections for the ‘In Home’ care provider

Heathcote Dementia Alliance will offer Dementia Mates training and education courses co-developed with La Trobe School of Rural Health. These courses can then lead into Certificate courses at Kangan TAFE. Career pathways are also being developed to enable volunteers to become formal carers with approved accreditation. Dementia Mates will also offer awareness and education sessions for community members.

Come back soon to find out how you can join the program.

Dementia Dynamics

Heathcote Dementia Alliance has been approached to work with the authors/researchers of Dementia Dynamics to use their toolkit to assist with the Dementia Mates volunteer training program. Dementia Dynamics aims to create environments to support people with dementia and provide a toolkit to enable facilities to develop a model of care for supporting sustainable, evidence-based, quality dementia care.
